Come along with Barb and Cynthia from River City Yarns on a guided tour of Elk Island Park. Bring your "Timmies" to keep you warm and hang out with us while we talk to Tristan and Brian about the history of the park, the conservation efforts that the park supports and the highlights that the park has to offer. Given the time of year, we will be showing you a lot of snow (in fact, it was snowing while we were there and it's snowing still...) We hope to provide you with a sense of the Canadian wilderness, the crisp clean smell of the air in a natural park and give you motivation to "unplug" for a bit, along with us. Take out your knitting, learn a bit about bison, eco-systems and the importance of beaver to the building of Edmonton, our hometown.
Many, many thanks to Tristan Drozdiak, a friendly and informative Interpretation Officer from Elk Island National Park, who spent so much time explaining the Park's history and conservation efforts. We'd also like to thank Brian Eaton, Chair of the Friends of Elk Island Society for spending a day out at the park, along with Norman and Shauna, showing us around (and encouraging us to climb fences). And we are very grateful to our team. Our staff, our freelancers, our family members; thank you for your time, your patience and your skills.
