A tutorial on how to build a Bar Graph in R using the Hot Dog Contest example described in Chapter 4 of the book Visualize This by Nathan Yau. The chapter is called Visualizing Patterns Over Time. Disclaimer: I am not a programmer and my descriptions and terminology are probably off here and there. The viewer is encouraged to consult the original book and other sources on R on the web. I do try to explain how a "for" loop works at 21:37 but again, real programmers might cringe at my generalities. The book is used as a textbook in my Information Design: Data Visualization class at San Francisco State University. In the tutorial RStudio is used as a gentler interface for use by design students with minimal programming experience.
