This Retract-A-Gate was installed at the bottom of this customers step to keep his young one from climbing the stairs. He did not want to drill in to his banisters, so he made his own banister adapter that straps onto his banister post. Making your own accessories for installation is a viable option but Smart Retract sells banister adapters and other useful accessories on their website (http://www.Retract-A-Gate.com) if you don’t want to go to the trouble of making your own. He also ensured that the Retract-A-Gate was level and square when he installed it because his banister was not. All he did was add a shim at the bottom to correct for his crooked banister post.
