This project is the making of an infeed table and a jig that enables me to cut slabs of wood our on my Bandsaw.
In most parts of the world hardwood slabs are very expensive to buy as conservation of forests has become an important sustainability issue and for all the right reasons.
However we have the ability to obtain logged timbers in other ways such as permitted firewood collection sites, wood yards that sell firewood etc.
The first part of this build is to make and connect an infeed table that also has a self to put essential tools and accessories needed for the bandsaw, this is a simple job that needed accuracy in regards to the table height being correct and then attaching it.
The second part of the project is the jig that enables logs of odd shapes to be attached to the jig and the jig can then be positioned up to the Bandsaw fence by means of sliding T Track adjustments.
Many Bandsaws have the ability of making 300mm or 12 inch capacity cuts and rigging an attachment such as a slabbing jig adds to the enjoyment of resawing your own lumber to desired thicknesses and to some manageable lengths.
