I wanted to test to see how it would feel to add extra weight to the pull-up by hanging some of it on the shoulders rather than hanging it all off the waist or feet.

It was an interesting challenge and fun to try!

I'm not going to say it's better or worse but it does give a different feel to the resistance on the exercise, especially when using the bands with the plates bouncing around as you do the exercise.

I've got a pair of 25 lb plates hanging on the bands on my shoulders (simple bale hitch through the center hole of the plates then the other end of the band hangs off my shoulders) and a 35 lb plate hanging from my waist, 85 lbs total.

I tested it with just the plates hanging off the shoulders as well, and that felt good, but I liked the combination of the shoulder weight and the waist hanging weight the best.
