Turn on CC :)
From the time I had binged on Banana Fish almost exactly a year ago, a lot has changed including the way I saw it. When I had to almost rewatch the entire anime to get the required scenes that fit my song selection, I realized how fun of a ride this anime was but almost heart breakingly so. My favorite had to be the two EDs of Banana Fish. The visuals combined with the music and the soul stirring lyrics that seemed to written by someone who understood Ash through and through. But Red by Survive said the Prophet especially captured my interest with its lyrics which seems to portray Ash throughout the second segment of the show. The visuals were inpired by a famous novel by J D Salinger (If you didn't know, the anime as thematically inspired by one of his short stories name 'The Perfect Day for Banana Fish') called Catcher in the Rye with Eiji and Ash in a rye field, with Eiji far ahead of him.
My favorite line has to be
"Is this the sacrifice of the broken?
Losing the purest of what's in your heart"
which to me tells exactly why Ash decided to stay behind in the library and did not get treated even though Lao never hit any of his vitals.
If any of you haven't, please do read he side stories Angel Eyes and Private Opinion and the epilogue Garden of Light.
The scenes are colored in reddish tinge where we get to see the more emotional side of Ash and blueish when we deal with his colder side.
Hope you guys enjoy this one!
