This is a cover of a song from a musical called Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. In an interview, the composer said that this song was directly inspired by the Gerudo Valley theme from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - so here's a cover of it using that song's instruments!
For a few years now, I've been kinda low-key obsessed with this musical, and another musical by the same composer called Ghost Quartet. I highly reccomend both, they're a bit confusing but everything makes more sense with each subsequent listen, and they kind of defy description. I think most of my favorite things are like that.

This song has been stuck in my head for the longest time, so it was so much fun making my own SPC700 version of it. I recorded and looped most of these samples too (from various synths/sources), with the exception of the Rhodes sample from Chrono Trigger. This track was composed by Toby Fox for YIIK: A Postmodern RPG (thats pronounced Y2K...), a game Ive done two other covers from! Ive been keeping an eye on the project since around 2015, and it sounds like theyre wrapping up development/release preparations! What little footage of it Ive seen looks nice and surreal and mysterious.
Also WOW this audio visualization software is incredible. Its called sidwiz, and it was programmed by RushJet1, the guy behind the new Famitracker soundtrack option in Cave Story. I dont know if anyones ever tried it on SPC700 music before, but this is what it looks like!")
