MAMMUT | Bain de Sang 9a | Jonas Schild successfully repeated the first 9a in Switzerland @mammut | Uploaded August 2021 | Updated October 2024, 1 day ago.
Back in May 2021, Jonas Schild managed to repeat the first 9a graded climbing route in Switzerland. Bain de Sang is located in St. Loup (VD) and is known for it's very sharp handles along the route. This is also where the route got its name, which means "Bloodbath".
The route very technical and the crux is right at the end. It is made up of complex movements and requires extreme sensitivity and precision.
The first ascent was done by Fred Nicole back in 1993. Together with Jonas he now looks back on how climbing was back then.
