Bagan is one of the newest and most impressive UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Founded as the ancient capital of the Pagan Kingdom in the 9th century AD, Bagan flourished between the 11th and 13th centuries. Over 4000 Buddhist temples and pagodas were constructed on the plains near the Irrawaddy River, and almost half of them still stand today. It's an amazing place to explore, so let's check it out!
