😳 🤬 BAD NEWS: North Carolina’s absentee ballot release was delayed by RFK Jr. ruling. 🙌🏾 GOOD NEWS: The first absentee ballots were sent out on Friday to military and overseas voters.
Absentee ballots in North Carolina were initially scheduled to be sent out on Sept. 6, but the process was delayed due to a lawsuit involving third-party presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
After months of legal battles to appear on the state’s ballot, Kennedy suspended his North Carolina campaign last month and sought to have his name removed. The case reached the state Supreme Court, which ruled in a narrow 4-3 decision that his name must be taken off the ballot.
This delay has pushed absentee voting back by two weeks and forced counties to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on reprinting ballots.
