The Backrooms became one of the internet’s great modern horror myths because the idea is so simple and so horrible: what if you slipped out of reality and ended up somewhere endless, empty, fluorescent, and wrong?
On paper, that makes it a perfect fit for VR. Liminal spaces, maze-like corridors, oppressive silence, and the feeling that something might be around the corner should all feel especially unnerving when you’re actually standing inside it.
Escape - Backrooms Horror VR promises puzzles, exploration, traps, creatures, VR inventory mechanics and more. But based on the developer’s track record and early reactions already out there, there are some serious red flags. The Backrooms deserves more than yellow wallpaper and a cheap monster chase, so I’m here to find out whether there’s a real PSVR2 horror experience hiding in here, or if the scariest thing is that PlayStation lets this sit on the store page.
