I hiked off the beaten path and spent the night at the stunning alpine lake that everyone ignores! Washington State has many iconic alpine lake destinations - places like the mega popular Colchuck, or the often visited Rachel Lake. Any weekend at Olallie and Talapus lakes will feature hordes of hikers and backpackers, as will a trip to Lake Ingalls, which is possibly the most popular lake in Washington to hike and backpack to! But just beyond Lake Ingalls, off a fork in the trail that very few backpackers take, lies a perfect tiny little lake called Lake Ann that gets barely any visitors - at least not compared to its popular neighbor! To find out why Lake Ann is so often overlooked I headed there with my backpacking gear to spend the night. To say Lake Ann delivered an incredible experience is an understatement!
