This was his first time ever with a rider on his back! First of all i would like to ask for you not to say what i may have done wrong etc as there are so many different ways people break in horses! I like to back on a solid surface which a lot of people wouldn't agree with, i like it as the horse doesn't have as much grip! I also lay over them for a good 5 minutes or more and will never continue on over unless the horse is relaxed!, in the time of laying over him i was moving my leg touching him on the rump, patting him, slightly standing up in the stirrup so he got the feel of it before i actually sat on him. A lot has been cut out as it would have been like 15mins long lol I never ride with stirrups the first ride either! I have backed more horses than i can remember but this is my first time ever breaking in and backing my own horse. VERY PROUD MOMENT :') i would like to add for the last couple of days i have been doing a lot of pressure work around the saddle, leaning on the stirrups etc to build him up to this :)
so i hope i have explained myself and my methods :)
