This is the announcement for Back to Hogwarts Readathon 2026!
This readathon takes place September 1st- 30th

How to Play:
1)To open your map (download from above link from Canva)and begin, every player must complete: “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”:
*a book that contains a secret or something hidden
2)Now you must exit your house common room. You will have a different prompt depending on which house you are in:
Gryffindor: an act that requires courage/bravery in the book
Ravenclaw: read a Shakespeare play of your choice
Hufflepuff: a recommendation from a loyal friend
Slytherin: snakes on the cover, in the book, in the title, or a snake-like character
3)Now you will move around the board using a die. The ultimate goal is to end up at the statue outside of the Headmaster’s office, but you must do at least three prompts from around the board before arriving there. You may get these prompts at locations or by encountering a character:
*Room of Requirement: mentions something from another book
*Great Hall: includes a celebration or feast
*Library: a book about books/ books on the cover
*Trophy Room: someone gets an award
* Kitchens: involves food in the story or on the cover
*The Boggart in the cupboard: You must say the spell “Riddikulus!”- read a funny book
*Mrs. Norris: a cat in the story or on the cover
*Dobby: a book with a “helper” or elf-like character
*A dementor (two possible/ count as one): You must perform a patronus charm to get rid of the Dementor(s)- “Expecto Patronum!” - a book that makes you happy
*Peeves: a character who likes to annoy, trick, or cause trouble
*The Statue of the One-Eyed Witch (if you do this prompt you will automatically be taken down the passageway to Hogsmeade): the spell to open the passageway at the statue is: “Dissendium”; a book with a big “reveal”
*Honeydukes: something sweet in the book, title, or on the cover
*Hagrid’s Hut: a cozy location
*The Forbidden Forest: a scary story or a book that contains unicorns, centaurs, or spiders
*Crookshanks: an orange cover
*Whomping Willow: (this prompt will lead you down the passageway to the Shrieking Shack) a book with a tree on the cover or a tree as a character
*Shrieking Shack: a haunted house
4)After collecting at least three prompts around the board, make your way to the statue at the Headmaster’s office. To get to the office you must complete the password prompt:
*“Cockroach Cluster” a less-hyped book
5)You have arrived at the Headmaster’s office where you find the Pensieve, your last prompt,.
*Pensieve: a book with a flashback/ memory or a part of the book that is in an earlier time
5)You have won! If you have completed all of the seven required prompts you can be entered into the book giveaway. If you have done a total of 14 prompts you will get two entries. If you have somehow managed to get all twenty-one prompts (both dementors), you will get three entries.
