It seems like every day there are new reports about plastic polluting our world, from oceans and rivers to microplastics contaminating our own bodies. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the issue and not know where to start doing something about it. That’s why we’re going back to the basics to explore the real causes of plastic pollution, how plastic affects our health and communities, and simple actions you can take to help solve the problem.
On February 11, 2026, we hosted Basic to Basics: Plastic Pollution 101. Our panel of activists, educators, and scientists presented key information about the plastic pollution crisis, and shared what you can do to help protect yourself and the planet. This conversation is suitable for beginners. Joining the discussion was Kristy Drutman, Brown Girl Green; Rhonda Keyser, Program and Policy Director, Cafeteria Culture; and Dana Zhaxylykova, Microplastics Researcher. The webinar was moderated by Jack Dalton, The Kid Conservationist.
