Welcome back to my Back to Basics series! In today's junk journal tutorial, I'm showing how I create a beautiful collage journal cover using a simple file folder, vintage-inspired papers, stamping, and layered ephemera.
If collage has ever felt intimidating, I hope this video encourages you to give it a try. Collage is one of my favorite junk journaling techniques because it's less about perfection and more about combining colors, textures, patterns, and papers into one cohesive design. Think of it as decorating with paper!
In this video, I'll share my process for creating a vintage-style journal cover using:
• File folders
• Vintage sewing pattern paper
• Vintage music book pages
• Old book pages
• Digital papers
• Mod Podge
• Stamping techniques
• Masking tape details
• Brown packing tape spine reinforcement
We'll talk about color families, layering, visual interest, texture, composition, and creating a cohesive design while having fun with the creative process.
