Sir Nick Hine, Chief Executive of Babcock Marine, shares the latest with the Royal Navy Type 31 and Arrowhead 140 frigate programs during DSEI UK 2025.

Babcock recently launched the first Type 31 (Inspiration class) frigate, HMS Venturer, and the ship is now outfitting at the yard in Rosyth. In addition, production is currently underway for Poland's first Miecznik frigate and Indonesia's first Merah Putih (Red and White) frigate. Both are based on Babock's Arrowhead 140 design. Lastly, Babcock is actively promoting the Arrowhead 140 to Sweden, Denmark and New Zealand.
Selected by the UK Royal Navy as the design solution for its new Type 31 Inspiration Class frigates, the Arrowhead 140 design, benefits from a proven hull-form that has been tried and tested in real-world operational environments from NATO and coalition task forces to national regional and deployed operations.
The baseline AH140 design can be configured to meet the broad range of operational requirements and profiles a global frigate may be called upon to undertake and adopt.
