Centipede: Recharged (PC) Quick Review -A Really Fun Retro Remake- The 2.5D Gamer 2022-08-03 | Centipede Recharged is a reboot if the classic Atari Arcade game that mixes retro game design with modern graphics and some new gameplay mechanics. The game offers and arcade mode, and a challenge mode, as well as coop play. Changes were made to the arcade game like the spiders, who are no longer the bane of your existence, dropping power-up icons to give the player special attacks for a limited time. Things like auto fire, explosive rounds, and even a shotgun style shot. The game is really fun to play, and for the Steam version, they added mouse support, which makes controlling the game buttery smooth. My only complaint against the arcade mode is there are no extra lives to start, so one mistake will restart back at the beginning of the game. The game features a leaderboard, so the point is to score as many points as possible on one life. As much as I like classic Centipede, and all it's later offshoots, I'm pretty terrible at the game, and I die pretty quickly, so I only get to enjoy the game for a couple minutes at a time before it's game over. I would have liked a couple of lives added so I could get futehr and see more of the game, but instead the Arcade mode is a survival mode.This makes the arcade mode into something you play for a little bit, enjoy short spurts, and just move on. I haven't played the coop arcade mode, but having a second player would definitely extend the replay value a little.On top of the arcade mode, they added a challenge mode to the game where you can play the game with various objectives, thing like kill fifty spiders, kill a certain amount of enemies with bombs, fight a super centipede, and etc. These modes expand the life of the game a little, even if I've never been big on challenge modes in most games myself. I kind of wish they had added a few extra lives to the arcade experience which I find to be the most fun part of the game. I know, get gud noob.The Bottom Line: For it's $9.99 price tag, I can say I am happy with my purchase of Centipede Recharged, even if there are parts I think could have done better. The core experience is as fun as it ever was, I just wish the developers would have made a few choices to extend the arcade mode a little, at least for single player. The gameplay is classic, and fun, there are coop options to enjoy this with a friend, and even if the game won't keep you playing for hours at a time, similar to an arcade cabinet, it's fun to boot up, play for a little bit, enjoy and move on with your day. If you're a centipede fan, or are just looking for something fresh to play with yourself or others, give this game a look. Centipede Recharged is available on every current console on the market, and the developers are currently working on Yars recharged, which, from the trailer, looks like another fantastic reboot. Spiderman Remastered -PC- RX 7900 GRE Native 4K Benchmark Test | Gigabyte Gaming OC Version | RT On The 2.5D Gamer 2024-04-10 | Just finished building my first PC from the ground up, and decided to test Marvel's Spiderman Remastered with a long benchmark test to see how it runs. These aren't the settings I will play it at normally, but I'm running it in Native 4k without upscaling or Frame Generation. I turned Ray Tracing on as well to see how well the AMD card handles the light RT effects in this game. This is more for curiosity to see how well the card handles the game at Native 4K in a longer gameplay sample. My personal preferences when I play this game from now on, I will turn upscaling on, and V-Sync to cap the framerate at 60 fps. I know that V-Sync is a naughty word in PC gaming, but for a single-player game, I see no reason to put the extra wear and tear on my GPU and CPU. I'm OK with V-sync, personally. This isn't a competitive online FPS game, and I'd prefer to save the power usage and wear and tear on my new rig. It's fun to uncap the framerate and turn on MSI Afterburner to see how well your system does on occasion though.NOTE: there was some stuttering later in the video, but I'm not sure if it's because of the card, or because Windows was downloading updates in the background. F.E.A.R. Benchmark Test -No Commentary- Every 2005 PC Gamers Worst Nightmare (Max settings, 4K) The 2.5D Gamer 2024-04-09 | Just got a New rig, and decided to see how well it stacks up to the F.E.A.R. Benchmark at native 4K. I remember when I first got this game my Alienware Rig at the time had a hard time running it. It was frustrating because my rig at the time could play Doom 3, Half Life 2, and Quake 4 just fine, but F.E.A.R. was a PC killer in it's day. It was later overshadowed by Crysis as a PC killer, but for the time F.E.A.R. was hard to run.NOTE: There is a glitch in this game where, if you use a Logitech mouse, even a modern wireless Logitech mouse, it will kill your framerate in the game. I know there was a fan patch going around that reportedly fixes this, however, I just swap my mouse to an old HP mouse I own when playing this game. I don't know how or why this is a thing, however, using a Logitech mouse will tank your framerate in this game for no good reason.#fear #pcgaming
Uncharted 2 PS3 vs PS4 Pro Comparison -No Commentary- The 2.5D Gamer 2024-04-03 | Just a comparison of Uncharted 2 running on a PS3 and a PS4 Pro (via The Nathan Drake Collection). The PS4 version, obviously improves on the textures, lighting, and framerate, but the PS3 version still holds up surprisingly well in it's own right. The PS3 version is running at 720p, recorded at 1080p in OBS. The PS4 version is running with Super Sampling on and at 1080p (I don't have a 4K capture card). God of War (2018) PS4 Pro vs PC Comparison -No Commentary- Ultra preset, DLSS, I7 4790, RTX 2060 KO The 2.5D Gamer 2024-03-25 | I forgot to shut off Motion Blur on the PS4 version. The PS4 pro version is running at 1080p with Super Sampling on, setting on prioritize visuals, and is upscaled to 4K in my editing software. I just got a 4K display, so the PC version is on the ultra preset (ambient occlusion set to high), but running in DLSS Performance mode which is 1080p upscaled to 4K. So they are both upscaled 1080p in this footage. My PC is aging, so running it 4K native isn't the best option for my i7 4790, and 6 gb RTX 2060. My rig does the best it can, which is still impressive for a Del Optiplex 9020 build. Elgato HD60s vs EVGA XR1 Lite Comparison | Tested in 5 PS4 Games | Capture Card vs Capture Card | The 2.5D Gamer 2024-03-23 | Just thought I would compare the EVGA XR1 Lite to the Elgato HD60s for fun. Both are good cards. The XR1 Lite takes a little more tinkering to get it to work better than it will out of the box, whereas the HD60s automatically records HDCP. For this recording, for Days Gone and Horizon, I swapped the screens at the two and a half minute mark, so you could see how each card looks on the character seeing as they are always on the right side of the screen. I also swapped sound at the same mark with the sound icon telling you which card you are hearing in each clip. I also set the brightness to zero for each card. Both were recorded at 1080p (PS4 Pro, Super Sampling on), and upscaled to 4K with my editing software.For the Xr1 Lite, HDCP recording is blocked (PS3 games can't be recorded because of the HDCP lock), however if you go to EVGA's website you can download the HDCP Control application for the XR1 Lite in order to shut off the HDCP block. You can also update the firmware. Go here: evga.com/support/download-Click on the "Other Products" Tab-On the "Category" tab click "Capture Device"-Click on the "Type" tab, and at the bottom there should be an option that says "HDCP Control for XR1 Lite"-Download the software for your Windows OS, and run it. Windows will give an error message, run the program anyway.-When you run the program, uncheck the box that says "HDMI Rx HDCP KEY" save and exit, and it should display PS3 and PS4 games now in OBS for you.Overall, I would say there isn't much of a quality difference between the two cards, which means the XR1 Lite was an excellent budget option, however, I have seen used HD60s cards on Ebay for cheaper as of late. The HD60s has been replaced by the HD60x by elgato, but for the used price, the HD60s is a great card, that brightens better than the XR1 Lite does. For PS4 games the blacks look great on the XR1 lite, but for older games like say, playing tomb raider on the PS3, the footage comes out super dark, even when adjusting the brightness in OBS. Honestly both are great cards. The XR1 Lite is a great option if you're looking for a more budget-friendly card, you've just got to update it and shut off the HDCP Block with a separate program. Doom 3 Original vs BFG Edition PC Comparison -No Commentary- The 2.5D Gamer 2024-03-17 | For this comparison I set both versions to 1280x1024 because I can't seem to get the Steam version of the original Doom 3 to display in 1080p. I've tried changing the config file, and the boot options through Steam itself, but nothing. The retail CD version I also have installed in my PC will display in 1080p, however, now matter what I try, I cannot get it to save the 16x AA setting. The Steam version will save the 16xAA setting, so I decided, in order to make each game evenly matched, I would run the Steam version of Doom 3, and just change the resolution of BFG edition to 1280x1024 so they would be on even ground visually. Honestly, they are basically the same game. They are the same visually, and design wise, the only big difference it the flash light. I really wish they would have given the option to play BFG edition with the flash light instead of just forcing the change on players. I do like BFG Edition, it has a ton of content, however, I will always love Vanilla Doom 3 more. I mean, I spent $1,000 on a PC back in the day just to play it. Yes, I know, the Xbox version was a thing, but I wanted the PC version. The Xbox version is still an awesome port in it's own right. Doom 3 BFG Edition PS3 vs PC Comparison -No Commentary- The 2.5D Gamer 2024-03-15 | The original Doom 3 is still way better than BFG edition, but I still like BFG edition even if they ruined the flashlight mechanic. BFG edition has a ton of content and a good version of Doom 3 even if the Vanilla Doom 3 just plays and feels a lot better because of the flashlight mechanic which the game was designed around. As for this comparison, the PS3 version is a solid port that has all the extra content of the PC version, but there was never a question that the PC version is the better running, looking, and playing version. I'm running the PS3 version off hardware and it's running at 720p, whereas the PC version is running at 1080p. I upscaled the footage in my editing software. The PS3 version is a lot brighter than the PC version which is still a lot brighter than the original Doom 3. BFG is good, but I will always recommend the original Doom 3 on the PC and original Xbox over it. I am both a huge Doom 3 fan and a Doom 3 apologist as well. #doom3bfg #doom3 #ps3 #pcgaming #doom
Quake 4 Xbox 360 vs PC Comparison -No Commentary- The 2.5D Gamer 2024-03-13 | The PC version is the obvious winner, however, for it's time, the 360 version would have been an excellent port as the Xbox 360 port would have run the game better than the average PC could at the time if it's release. The PC footage is on ultra settings and at 1080p via changing the config file. Quake 4 is an easy game to run now, however, for the time, the cost of a PC that could run the game on ultra settings at the max 62-63 fps the engine would allow would have been quite substantial. The 360 would have been the cheaper version to play, launch-game flaws and all. The 360 version was also 16:9 and high definition (720p), whereas the PC version is default 4:3 aspect ratio. You can change it in the console, config file, or even download a visual tweeker to change the resolution to a modern resolution. The 360 version has framerate issues, but it was a launch game after all. I only recently picked up the 360 version of the game, and it was mostly to get the Quake II Remaster that came with it, but I am enjoying my time with Quake 4 on the 360 as well. I've always been a big fan of Quake 4 even if I understand why it and even Doom 3 are sort of the black sheep of their respective franchises. Quake 4 was another great shooter in one of my favorite eras of PC first person shooters. The era of Half-Life 2, Doom 3, F.E.A.R., Farcry, Quake 4, Swat 4, and eventually Crysis. Doom Eternal PS4 Pro vs PC Comparison -No Commentary- (High Settings, RT On) The 2.5D Gamer 2024-03-11 | I did not realize you could turn motion blur off on the PS4 version until after I finished editing this video. Also, my PC is a bit older now, and my RTX 2060 KO will only allow high preset with it's 6gb of Vram. The PC version is running native 1080p with no upscaling and on the high preset (everything set to high) with Ray Tracing on. For the PS4 version I am using a PS4 Pro with Boost mode and Super Sampling on. Both were recorded at 1080p, and then upscaled to 4k in my video editing software. I found the PS4 version on clearance at my local Walmart and decided to pick it up. While the PC version obviously looks and runs better, even on my aging rig, the PS4 version is still fun to play. I am, obviously not a pro Doom player with fast weapon switching skills or anything, I'm just a casual at best.What I do enjoy about the PS4 version is, only coming in at around 50gb in size, I can keep it on my PS4's 2tb hdd and enjoy it at any time, whereas, with my PC, my gaming hard drive is so filled up, I am already at the point of having to delete games like Doom eternal and the 90 gb of data it eats up on my hard drive. This way I can still enjoy the game when I feel the urge to play it, but don't feel like re-downloading it off Steam again. Half Life Uplink Demo (PS2) Full Playthrough The 2.5D Gamer 2023-08-19 | I edited out my deaths, and most of my quick saves to make it easier to watch.I'm betting that most people who have played the PS2 port of Half-Life never even knew that the Uplink demo also got a PS2 port. In order to access the Uplink Demo, you need a copy of Half-Life PS2, and a copy of the Official Playstation Magazine Demo Disk Number 57. The demo disk in question has a WWII American GI on the cover of it, because it has a demo of Medal of Honor: Frontline. If you don't currently own the demo, then you'll have to look on Amazon, Ebay, Or Half for it. That's probably going to be your best bet to find it. None of the Game Stores I know of carry used demo disks from OPM (I've seen a few Jampacks).I completely forgot about the ability to play the uplink demo on the PS2 until I uploaded a feature on the PS2 port of Half-Life. Unreal Tournament III (PS3) Bot DM Gameplay (Q3ProTourney4) -No Commentary- The 2.5D Gamer 2023-07-20 | I was playing some Unreal Tournament III, and thought I would share some footage of me playing a Quake III map in UT3, thanks to the PS3 version's mod support. Unreal (1998) Bot Deathmatch -Deck 16- No Commentary The 2.5D Gamer 2023-07-17 | I was playing some bot deathmatch in the original Unreal, and game which I love, and I thought I would just share some hectic gameplay with you. I have 15 bots in this match for a total of 16 players. Bot deathmatch in 1998 was a rarity, and Unreal was one of the first FPS games to implement it. Unreal Tournamnet refined the Bot DM a lot more, but this is still super fun to play. If you own the original Unreal, kill some bots on occasion, it's fun.#unrealengine #unreal #1998
