Custom “Dan Conner” Doll billy polard 2022-02-11 | I realized I never shared this here.4 years ago, I got the ridiculous idea to make a “Dan Conner” doll. I saw a “Fred Flintstone” doll in the thrift store, and knew I was gonna try.I initially thought it’d be a simple thing, and that I’d just make clothes to put over the existing doll…but it looked comically bad, since the Fred doll had a large head and tiny body.I instead constructed an entire new frame and stuffed and hot glued and painted his hair a more proper “Dan” brown. I also made a TV Guide that can be put on and off in his hand with Velcro. tenaglia - (lyric video) billy polard 2021-08-16 | It’s been 2 years since I wrote any new music. I guess sometimes it takes having your heart ripped out to be inspired. I highly debated calling the track by this name, but nothing else seemed right to me. And if you know me by now, you know I’m honest, blunt and wear my heart on my sleeve. So I don’t really care what anyone might assume or think. I am going through a personal hell at the moment. I feel hopeless, lost and afraid. I don’t know what to do with myself. As a result, here is the song that came out of me…which wasn’t really in my control. Instead of beating myself up about every little pop, crackle or imperfect note, I just recorded a very simple, barebones track about how I am feeling. Very much reminiscent of my first album, which was recorded on 4 track cassette. That’s partially why I don’t write more often..the recording process is so tedious and frustrating. I get anxiety from an unannounced phone call...so someone knocking on my door in my little safety zone is 100 times worse. Plus I have to put pants on and move some of my collectibles around to let him out the window.Anyway...to spare him from causing me to have a panic attack, I did it myself. “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” billy polard 2020-12-22 | In 2008, I was 24 years old. I was working overnight stocking shelves in a grocery store, and living in a small bedroom in Glenside, Pennsylvania...sharing a bathroom with 3 other young men. I had just met and started seeing someone for about a month, who I ended up being with for nearly 7 years.Since we had only met in November of that year, it was natural that we didn’t have plans to spend the holiday together. Even though she lived just 2 minutes away from me, she was spending it with her family back in Virginia. On Christmas Eve, I couldn’t stop thinking about her, and wished we were together. As a last minute “gift” for her, I recorded this cover in my bedroom on my 4 track cassette recorder.By the time it was finished and uploaded to YouTube, it was technically Christmas morning. I sent her an email with the subject simply, “baby, please come home.” So here again is my cover of Darlene Love’s classic, “Christmas, (Baby Please Come Home)”, from Christmas Day 2008.I’ve always loved this song. NOCO BOOST SPORT GB20 billy polard 2020-12-21 | This is not a paid endorsement...but everyone should have one of these. In the cold mornings, my scooter has trouble starting. Instead of having to bother my roommate, or if he’s not home, be stranded, I looked into a portable jumper. I purchased one from Home Depot that worked just fine, but it was the size of a small boombox and took up precious space on my scooter. I found out about this Noco Boost, which is the size of a phone. This thing is brilliant. You charge it at home, and can take it with you. It can easily fit in my scooter seat trunk for emergencies. It can jump a car or truck, has USB inputs to charge devices, and also a built in LED flashlight, which can also strobe if you’re stranded and need to flag someone down. There’s another model that is a little more money, with a compressor feature to fill up a flat tire. I had $30 in Amazon gift cards, so it only cost me $50...but I would gladly have paid the full $80 for it. Jumping a battery has never been so easy. I won’t go into a whole speech about how much I love that original film. So I’ll keep it short. It was probably the first “real” horror film I ever saw. All it took was seeing the poster for it in my local video store to hook me. I HAD to see that movie. It simultaneously excited me and ruined my childhood...but I couldn’t get enough. I know that’s in MAJOR part to Kevin Yagher’s brilliant animatronic, design and effects work. He is the only person who can make Chucky, Chucky.I’ve wanted a screen accurate Good Guy doll or burnt Chucky since I was about 7 or 8. I finally got a Good Guy two years ago...but if you wanted a burnt Chucky, you were outta luck. They are only custom made. Sure it’s homemade and “imperfect”, but I think for a musician who draws cartoons, it’s not bad.The hardest part? Grandmas hair billy polard 2020-07-17 | I go to my Grandma's every day to walk the dog, have a little visit, take home food she pushes onto me etc. But today she was forgetting words and seemed to be acting a little off. I asked her if she knew who I was, she didn't know. I walked her to the sofa, gave her some water and called my aunt.I sat with her and tried to jog her memory. Asked her if she knew who my mother was (her first born), but she still couldn't remember anyone, or that my ma had died for that matter.My aunt came and took her readings and we got her to relax and drink more and I gave her some fruit, and slowly she started recalling things. This same thing happened on Christmas night, too...but she's always been tough and bounced back.She just celebrated her 89th birthday, so these things are natural...it just makes me a bit sad.After she was back to normal, I went upstairs to fix her TV in the bedroom. I saw her wigs and tought I'd lighten things up a bit...she really seemed to like how it looked 🤣.

I'm straight edge, hate sports and have been a vegetarian since I was 10...yet I don't know what I'd do without you. Losing Mom was really hard, but in many ways her depression took her away from me many years ago. You aren't allowed to die...ever. Like clockwork you call me at LEAST once a week just to check in, if I haven't already called you. I am fully aware that I was an awful human being from ages 12 to 18, thank you for not holding that against me. When Mom was going through her own personal Hell with her inner demons, the divorce and her depression, you still were there for your three ungrateful boys. I don't know what we would have done without you. This song is about that very same thing, which I wrote and recorded years later in 2006. I love you, Dad. Happy Birthday. You are my rock. Guest Speaker (Upper Moreland Middle School) Part 2 of 2 billy polard 2019-11-18 | I had the honor of speaking to the entire 6th grade of my old Junior High. I spoke 4 times total, and for one of the presentations, I set my iPad up and hit “record”, just to have it for myself.I read my book, talked about being an author, illustrator and a musician, and signed about 30 books. It was very surreal being back in the same building where I spent 3 years of my childhood, walking down the same halls. Not much has changed, except I’m much older now and I’ve kissed a girl. I was there the entire day and spoke 4 times. I even ate lunch in the teacher’s lounge. I’ve never done anything like this before, but it was really kind of special. At the end of the day, the literary teacher said the children were inspired and had a great time. In a lifetime of letdowns, it felt good to be a rock star...if only for an afternoon.
