This is the mantra that we often have to use when racing rally. Sometimes it leads to champagne ceremonies, sometimes to crashed cars. In the 2022 American Rally Association season, it often led to both. While there were many wins and successes throughout the season, there was also mistakes and setbacks. So, we had to go fast and risk everything to chase that title right to the end – and this is the behind-the-scenes story of how that all went.

Ken Block takes his Hyundai WRC Car out in Los AngelesKen Block2022-11-15 | With the ‘22 American Rally Association season over, I decided to take my Hyundai i20 WRC race car for one last ride—in LA traffic!! It’s wild to think that a competition-spec race car like this can also be street legal, but that’s part of what makes rally racing so special. I met up with Trouble Andrew at his studio and gave him a ride, drove through Hollywood, then eventually met up with good friends Rob Dyrdek and Damon Way for a cruise up to Malibu to get dinner before saying goodbye and sending the race car back to Europe.

NOW we‘re finally able to give the Sport Quattro its first proper test at Willow Springs Raceway in Southern California. Full throttle pulls, i5 turbo exhaust sound music-to-ear science (thanks again Borla), handbrake slides, figure 8's, donuts, tire smoke (and a wheel lockup issue); the stress gets put on. The suspension set up plays a MASSIVE role in the effectiveness and performance in these trucks. In this episode, we are back in Plaster City, CA to do some shock testing with King Shocks. To aid in our R&D (and because its sick AF) we brought out some high speed cameras, and a shot over gimbal system mounted to a Ford Raptor. This way, you can see all of the suspension articulation and functionality of this truck in slow motion.
Follow me on Twitter! twitter.com/kblock43Can Ken Block Gymkhana in a 6500lb Trophy Truck? The Answer is YES.Ken Block2021-11-11 | The first thought into Ken Block's head after driving the 1100hp Geiser Bros Trophy truck was: "That was rad...but can it Gymkhana? " The obvious solution to this was to try it out and make this video. We went to Irwindale Speedway and set up a legitimate Gymkhana Grid course (the same layout used for 2013 x-games), brought out the Hoonigan crew, and spent the day thrashing - all in the name of science.
Because this is science, we needed something to compare the Trophy Truck's runs with. So we brought out 3x Formula Drift Champion - Chris Forsberg in his competition car to lay down a benchmark run. Just for safe measure, we got Hoonigan's very own, Hert to rip some laps in the "Shart Kart" to see what a more "normal" car could do.
Will this help Ken prepare for the 1000? Probably not. But it was a good excuse to hammer on a truck, rip donuts, and have a good time with our buds.

To celebrate a decade of tire slaying and automotive mayhem, Ken Block is reviving some of the livery art from pivotal moments in his history with the brand.
Looking back through his years of racing and Gymkhana, Block selected three of his favorite liveries from his race cars, to create a limited line of products for Hoonigan, DC Shoes, 100%, Wolfgang Man & Beast. These “Legacy Liveries” include the “Snow Camo” from his 2005 Subaru rally car, the “Drips” from Gymkhana THREE, and the Hoonicorn V1 livery graphic that was featured in Gymkhana SEVEN. The flagship product of this collection is a limited edition set of three posters, featuring very iconic images of these cars in their respective liveries. Each poster is signed by Block and only 43 sets will be available for purchase.
DC will be producing a re-release of their Versatile shoe in three colorways to support the historic KB liveries. 100% is set to release sunglasses, goggles, and gloves in the graphics, and Wolfgang Man & Beast has a line of leashes and collars in the Legacy Livery graphics.
“Throughout my career, I’ve had some liveries that I am really proud of, which I feel have set a high bar for the world of motorsports.“ says Block. “I’ve always incorporated a lot of skateboard and streetwear influence into the graphics we designed for my Gymkhana and race cars. Much of that comes from the years of design and marketing experience I had growing the DC Shoes brand. To now be celebrating 10 years of growing the Hoonigan brand with this unique “Legacy Livery” on my race car and these rad products; I am beyond stoked.”

Follow me on Twitter! twitter.com/kblock43Ken Block Joins Audi! And Gets The Ultimate WelcomingKen Block2021-09-28 | I am excited to announce that I have teamed up with Audi on an electrifying new partnership, which will include expanding the Gymkhana franchise to include a new installment starring a very top secret Audi e-tron. The film, dubbed Electrikhana, is scheduled to release in 2022. This union will also see me exploring Audi’s cutting-edge racing and EV technologies, plus serve as a catalyst to push the limits of what’s possible in an electric vehicle. This partnership is literally a dream decades in the making.
Audi’s efforts in the WRC, specifically with their Group B cars, along with their wins at Pikes Peak in the 1980’s is what led me down the path to become a rally driver. Their Quattro system pioneered the AWD car revolution and forever changed the sport of rally, and now I’m getting a chance to be a part of their next leap in motorsports with electric performance. It’s quite an honor, and humbling, to now consider myself a part of a team that I have highly respected for so long. And I can’t wait to share more details on the vehicle Audi is building for Electrikhana, it’s going to be insane.
To lead off the new relationship, I recently traveled to Audi’s home in Ingolstadt, Germany to emerge in all things Four Rings. This trip is documented in a three-part series, the first episode of explores the influence, heritage, and the future of the automobile manufacturer in racing. I got to sample an arsenal from Audi’s current line up including the new ridiculous fast, Audi RS e-tron GT as well as the Audi e-tron Vision GT concept car. But while the partnership looks to the future of performance, I wasn’t going to miss out on an opportunity to drive some iconic machines from the past, including Hans Stuck’s championship winning DTM Audi V8 and Walter Röhrl’s legendary Group B Audi Quattro S1 E2. In addition, I got an intimate look at Audi’s all new Dakar-racecar, the RS Q e-tron racer that will be reimagining the way people view electrification in long distance, endurance racing. All of which can be seen in the coming episodes.
And to answer the question on everyone’s minds: why the switch to electrified vehicles? For me, it’s simple really: It’s new. It’s high level performance. It’s the future. And new technology and forward thinking - the things Audi is great at - can be used to have even more fun with cars, and I am all about that.

They have also had their fair share of troubles here, with roll over crashes and the loss of the Cossie v1 in a fire in 2018. It’s Concord pond stage is the most infamous stage of the event. It features multiple flat out in 6th gear jumps that guarantee a spectacle for the crowds of rally fans. Follow me on Twitter! twitter.com/kblock43Ken Block Reveals New 1,100hp Trophy Truck w/ Lil Jon at a Massive Beach Party in MexicoKen Block2021-07-29 | Rally racing legend Ken Block along with 16-year-old rising trophy truck racing star Jax Redline unveiled their 1100HP Geiser Bros G6 Trophy Truck sporting a brand new 2021 It’s a Living collab livery at a live reveal party at Papas & Beer in Rosarito, Mexico. Rapper Lil Jon hosted the celebration of the unconventional pairing’s truck launch, and the announcement of the team’s third driver for the Baja 1000, 2019 overall winner Alan Ampudia, along with thousands of local fans, champagne, and fireworks.
The trophy truck now joins the pantheon of Block’s vehicles sporting Mexican artist Ricardo Gonzalez’s, a.k.a. It’s a Living, exclusive design including Block’s Subaru STI, Cossie V2, and Tuthill Safari Porsche Rally vehicles. “It’s exciting to see the merging of all these worlds,” said Block. “Bringing together a guy from rally like me with two amazingly talented trophy truck racers and the work of an artist like Ricardo with this truck from one of the greatest builders in the world is an incredible moment.”
In today’s episode, Block and the Hoonigan crew deliver the three-punch combo of announcements about Block’s unorthodox foray into the world of desert racing which took place at the Ampudia family’s restaurant and nightclub. “Most livery reveals are pretty boring and underwhelming,” said Block. “With the addition of Alan Ampudia to the team, it was only right that we did this big and on Alan’s home turf.”
Block is starting his journey to the Baja 1000 as soon as possible by competing in the first leg of the Vegas to Reno race this August with rally co-driver Alex Gelsomino. “The ultimate goal here is winning the whole Baja 1000,” said Block. “So we are using this race to throw ourselves in and get as much seat time as possible going into the big event. There’s a big learning curve for us.”
Block’s odyssey to the Baja 1000 can be seen in the 8-part Whoopocalypse Now series dropping on his YouTube channel. The series will include seat-swapping with Redline in Block’s sport of rally racing at Team O’Neal, racing NEFR, Block pitting his rally car versus the trophy truck, and maybe even some trophy truck Gymkhana driving.

We're back with another installment of Ken Block's Raw Onboard Footage, this time from Southern Ohio Forest Rally during SS13 - "Diagon Alley". Early in the race, Ken and co-driver Alex Gelsomino took the lead putting down the quickest time on the first stage. They continued their pace into the second stage but luck would soon run out. The boys unfortunately went wide on the exit of a turn and hit a stump, breaking the right rear suspension. The team was able to fix the car overnight and get the boys back on the road for the second day of stages, albeit with a 17-minute penalty, setting them back to 64th position. Ken and Alex used this as an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the new Subaru WRX STI and test some different setups in the car - which judging by the onboard footage, paid off.

Ken Block's first race back in a Subaru proved to be extra sketchy. Rainy conditions at the Dirtfish Olympus Rally led to multiple offs and crashes resulting in DNFs. Block finished 2nd overall at the race securing a 2nd place standing in the ARA championship. Follow me on Twitter! twitter.com/kblock43Ken Block Back In A Subaru! Unveiling of His 2021 Livery And First Gravel Test!Ken Block2021-04-22 | With free rein to race in 2021 with any manufacturer of his choosing, Ken Block and Hoonigan Racing Division are announcing a wild year in some of the world’s finest gravel slingers: from an open class Subaru STi, to a safari-spec Porsche 911, to Block’s first ever race in a Trophy Truck… and that’s just the beginning. Block is also announcing more manufacturer partnerships soon.
“This is going to be a wild year! I’m stoked to be back in a Subaru racing rally in America,” said Block. “And now that I’m not exclusively tied to just one manufacturer, I can go do things like race a Porsche, built by Tuthill Porsche, in Africa and take on the infamous Baja 1000 in a Trophy Truck - both of which I’ll be doing for the first time ever!”
Later in the year is when things get really interesting for Block. In early November, Block is set to pilot a Tuthill Porsche built air-cooled Porsche 911 for the East African Safari Classic Rally. Spanning 10 days and nearly 5000 km on Kenya’s tough gravel roads, it’s often regarded as the world's greatest classic rally.
The day after the East African rally is scheduled to end, Block will head straight to Baja, Mexico to start the pre-run of the Baja 1000, then buckle into a Trophy Truck for his first ever attempt at the legendary off-road race. He seeks to answer the question: “Can a rally driver translate his skills directly to the world of off-road truck racing?” For the event, he’s teaming up with 16-year-old Jax Redline, an up and coming off-road racer who just took 5th overall at last weekend’s San Felipe 250. “Jax is one of the young and very talented drivers in the sport and I am stoked to be partnered with him in this big effort to go take on one of the biggest off-road races in the world!” said Block.
Follow me on Twitter! twitter.com/kblock43Ken Block’s 2021 Race Livery x “It’s a Living”Ken Block2021-04-08 | Ken Block and Hoonigan have teamed up with internationally acclaimed artist and designer It’s a Living (real name: Ricardo Gonzalez) to launch an all-new art package for Block’s race cars for 2021. This time, though, Block and Hoonigan are launching it in an unprecedented way: revealing the art in its purest form, before it’s applied to any of his race vehicles.
Block has a long history of creating some of the most unique and distinct liveries in motorsports, with artist collaborations ranging from Death Spray Custom, Felipe Pantone, Troy Lee, and more. He’s undoubtedly raised the bar in automotive livery design - and done it in a unique way: tying into his history with street wear and footwear design trends. This year, Block aims to set the bar even higher, with a different approach to the process - pure art first, application later - starting with It’s a Living’s hand painted design on canvas. Then adapting those designs to Hoonigan’s apparel for an initial limited edition launch, and revealing the race cars at a later date.
“I’m in a really unique position this year, being free to partner with different manufacturers for race cars, Gymkhana vehicles, trucks, etc. So, instead of launching the new livery art on just one of those vehicles, we are launching the graphics in a different and significant way”, said Block. “The graphics we launch every year are really important to me, so I'm absolutely stoked to partner up with It’s a Living for this particular project. I’ve been a big fan of his art for a while; his mix of calligraphy and graffiti-drip style, blended with gradients and some graphic art styling, just really works for me. So we’re showing it off in its purest form first - then adapting them to distinct vehicles I am using shortly after.”
The project kicks off with Gonzalez' art hand-painted on a large canvas, which then translates to three unique product drops. The first drop, which includes a limited run of 100 high-quality prints, signed by both Block and It’s A Living, will be exclusively offered through NTWRK’s online retail app April 8th at 5pm PT. The product pack also includes a limited run of t-shirts (in both long sleeve and short) and a hoodie, with only 140 pieces of each item produced.
Known for painting vibrant, building-sized typographical messages, Gonzalez’ style is a departure from the sharp, angular liveries Block has leaned toward in his previous liveries. “I'm really stoked to be working with Ken. He's really relaxed and detail oriented,” said Gonzalez. “I’ve never had my art adapted to a car. It's one of the most amazing parts of this process to see how lettering can be adapted to objects. Racing comes from a more rigid style of graphics and this (design) is more fluid. It will be interesting to see people’s reactions and to see the art in motion.”
When asked about a debut date for the race car, Block hinted that a series of announcements will come in the following weeks regarding new partnerships. “The announcements and livery reveals will come later, obviously… I’m a race car driver, after all.” said Block. “We’ve got some big partnerships to announce very soon - some of which may surprise you. It’s going to be a rad and wild year!”
