I just found this old footage from the Azumanga Daioh cosplay gathering at Anime Expo 2003, and it instantly brought me back to the early days of anime convention culture.
The convention halls were quieter, cosplay gatherings felt like one big friend group, and everyone was there simply because they loved anime.
Looking back now, I had no idea those days would eventually lead me to perform in Japan, work with NBC Universal Entertainment Japan, and become the first American artist to officially release an original song with Hatsune Miku.
