This is a song about how hard it is to communicate and come across properly. Despite recently moving to a country where I'm still learning the language, this is broader than that! Even when you speak the same language, your experiences and thoughts will shape how you express yourself in very different ways. You have to figure out what you want to say, how to say it, conveying it in a way that will be understood by the other party and they also have to do the same, over and over... when you think about it, it's a miracle we can understand each other even putting in the effort. I like to think that humans crave community and connection so much that all the pain seems worth it.
Most of the lyrics are a cipher, albeit a very easy one in my opinion; however, once you manage to get to the real words, they might be in a language you don't understand to begin with. I hope you'll try deciphering it nonetheless: communication takes effort, after all.
