The biggest gathering of Thomas fans ever? The Awdry Extravaganza at the Talyllyn Railway has been the ultimate celebration of the Rev. W. Awdry, The Railway Series and Thomas the tank engine for the past five years, and to celebrate 80 years since The Three Railway Engines was published a three day event made sure that 2025 was the best year yet.
Our team broadcasting the livestreams of the event, featuring Matt Parmenter, Tim Dunn, TheTrainModeller, Thomasthetankman111 and myself can now share with you the most ambitious of plans from both in front of and behind the cameras. Featuring a cab ride of a miniature engine on a narrow gauge train, a recreation of a 1950s TV train, finding Duke the Lost Engine, two exhibitions with illustrations from the books and screen-used props from the show, two evenings of entertainment and... well, watch and find out, or I shall spoil the next story!
Thank you to everyone who visited and said hi, and for all who enjoyed tuning in as we raced Carr against Sir Handel, did a jig and ended the extravaganza with a grand whistle chorus. It was truly an unforgettable occasion, and a proud moment for fans of the Engine Stories worldwide.
