Time to awaken my pet garter snakes from brumation! Brumation is a period of lower activity during cold or cool times of the year. Snakes are some of the best pet reptiles, in my opinion , and garter snakes and corn snakes are some of the best pet snakes! I currently keep 4 different species/subspecies, and 11 different individual pet snakes. We have 0.0.1 Pantherophis guttatus, a corn snake, and 3 different types of garter snakes: 2.1.1 Thamnophis sirtalis parietalis, the Red-sided Garter Snakes, 2.2 Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis, the Eastern Garter Snake (mine are melanistic garter snakes), and 1.1 Thamnophis radix, Plains Garter Snakes.
