I'm working on an OSD project (like so may others), the initial hardware-prototype is built around the LM1881 sync separator and an Atmel ATmega328p. In this video, a quick test of the vsync&hsync interrupt routines is done, the boxes are generated by the ATmega using simple delays, animated by a simple Y-position iterator in the code main loop.
