Amelia Earhart was lost during an attempt at becoming the first woman to complete a circumnavigational flight of the globe.

Before that flight, Amelia was a pioneering aviator. She was the first female to fly solo across the Atlantic, she was one of the first aviators to promote commercial air travel, and wrote best selling books about her flying. Learn more about Amelia the aviator!
