Nailah has good to above average stats in everything, but as we've seen in this series, units that are built like this (Not having crazy outlier stats) makes the unit somewhat underwhelming. The same can be said about Nailah, but she does have access to a pretty consistent one-shot mastery skill along with Parity. This helps her out in the fights where her offense is enough to defeat her enemy in one round without having to worry about any skills activating against her. She also has access to Howl, which makes a lot of units think twice about attacking her from range. Because if she does proc Howl, she'll get a free attack or two against them with no retaliation. The biggest problem with Nailah isn't her Strength or Defenses, which are quite solid for a laguz unit, it is her Skill. It makes her hit rate less than you would hope from a Laguz Royal and makes it so that her mastery skill, Savage, doesn't proc as often either.

The unit with the higher base speed will initiate first. (If unit has Shade or Stillness they will always choose who goes first). If both units have the same speed, the unit whose video it is will go first.
For weapons, the unit who is faster chooses the weapon they want the unit they are attacking gets to choose a weapon to counter them with. The unit who attacks first, goes through all the possible weapon combinations and picks whatever situation would give them the best chance at victory. After the initial turn, the only time a unit can change their weapon is on their turn.
