My Tesla Model 3 charged from an old charging standard, Avcon! A special Avcon to NEMA 14-50 adapter was needed to actually charge. The video provides information on the Avcon charging standard. There are still some working stations around the city of Phoenix! Avcon is the original J1772 standard. The official name, SAE J1772-1996 was a direct competitor to MagneCharge. It allowed up to 6.6kW of conductive charging and was used in cars like the Ford Ranger EV, Honda EV Plus, and early Th!nk City models.
