In this behind the scenes video of Avatar (2009), Sam Worthington and Zoe
Zoe Saldaña perform the motion performance capture for Jake Sully and Neytiri's first flight together on the Ikran by riding a mechanical object with strong fans blowing wind at him as it moves him from side to side simulating what a real flight experience on an Ikran flying animal would be like. This groundbreaking VFX technology pushed forward by James Cameron and his team, is what allowed Avatar to be such a visually inventive film.
