Yes I backed Oathsworn, and yes I went all in. There are several boxes of undiscovered treasures that take up exactly two moving boxes full of space in our home that simply say "Oathsworn" on them. It was the first kickstarter as well, long before the game became the hottest dungeon crawler and the talk of the industry. So, sheepishly, here we are reviewing the follow-up title from the designer and publisher before even tabling Oathsworn! On paper this one feels much more in line with our gaming preferences: hand management, area control.... but how did we enjoy it? Watch on to hear all of our thoughts!

Note: The game featured is a prototype provided by the publisher with rules & components subject to change. As with all content on our channel, this preview was unpaid.

07:36 ✅The card play makes for fun decisions
10:17 ❔The game is quite (too?) forgiving / nice, which polarises us
13:27 ❌The battle mechanic can be a little luck based & feels a bit swingy
17:49 ❔The exploration also has some luck elements
08:55 ✅The prophecy cards / public objectives
20:05 ✅Excalibur & the Holy Grail are are worth fighting for

24:02 Our final thoughts & wrap up

Thanks for stopping by! We're Amy & Maggie aka ThinkerThemer. We're an Australian couple with two very different perspectives of what makes a great board game - Amy (Thinker) is all about the mechanics and enjoys tight, competitive games, and Maggie (Themer) is all about the storytelling and the theme of the game, and the 'world' that the designer is trying to create. Subscribe to our channel to hear us talk about these two elements of a game, and how well integrated we feel these are in delivering a cohesive and wonderful game experience.
