I’m chipping away at this autumnal scene, depicting an area just outside of Lawrence in the South Island of New Zealand. I’ve wanted to paint this little spot for a few years, and I finally got my chance between projects.

I love deciduous trees, just at the cusp of a seasonal shift. The variety of colors in the foliage is not only a challenge, but an adventure!
