After a large absence with only one Famitracker remix produced in 2023 and 2024, and none last year, I have officially decided to return to doing Famitracker remixes with the second video for this year. There's no better way to cover a franchise that a lot of players including myself loved playing in the 2000s. If you grew up during that decade, you may fondly remember playing Bejeweled.
My introduction to the series was actually through the very first game, though the second one was the first one I actually played. I remember then 7-year-old me trying to figure out a solution to the most difficult puzzle in the entire game, until I came up with it myself. I binge-played the second game on an old Windows 98 Gateway PC that had been in my family. Sadly, that computer is gone now, but I was able to get to over level 70 something in Endless mode.
What about the later games? I only got to experience Twist through the Nintendo DS version, and the third game through the iOS port. The series hasn't had a new mainline entry in over a decade and a half. It was PopCap's most popular franchise until Plants vs. Zombies (another game I fondly remember playing) overtook it the following decade, and it was the cause of them getting electronic artsed (a verb that I came up with to describe EA's expansion through acquisitions practice).
In fact, Bejeweled was what actually motivated me to get into the mod tracking scene, which is a passion I continue to this very day. Very few covers of the games' soundtracks exist on YouTube, so I decided to remix the title screen theme using FamiTracker. I will be producing a wave of Bejeweled remixes throughout 2026, since it is the franchise's 25th anniversary (the actual anniversary was last year; this year is to commemorate the release of the deluxe edition of the first game).
