As sprayers get larger and labour becomes harder to find, improving the efficiency of the spray tender has become just as important as improving the sprayer itself.
Laython Ford, territory manager for Western Canada with SurePoint Ag Systems, shows how the company’s Arsenal spray trailer completes the complete spray tender system built around the company’s QuickDraw automated chemical mixing technology.
Available in multiple configurations, the Arsenal trailer is designed to automate the mixing and loading process while improving speed, accuracy, and operator safety. Ford says that operators build a per-acre recipe on the system’s display, then simply press start as the cabinet automatically draws products in the proper sequence, rinses between chemicals, and fills the sprayer.
The system is designed to accurately measure products regardless of formulation. As Ford explains, “If you asked for 133 and you got 133.1, we’re going to give you that definitive reading so you actually know exactly what went on on a per-acre basis.”
Recipes can also be automatically scaled to match the remaining acres in a field, helping reduce waste while simplifying the final load of the day.
SurePoint is also introducing its Auto Coupler system, allowing operators to connect the sprayer and begin loading without handling heavy hoses. According to Ford, “You can actually just hit start from an iPad in the cab… reducing exposure to chemical and then reducing manpower and labour.”
Ford says a typical 1,600-gallon sprayer carrying a three-product load can be filled in about 12 minutes directly from totes, without pre-mixing or hot loading.
