In this video, we demonstrate the AutoCart™ technique for acetabular chondral injury, an advanced hip arthroscopy procedure designed to restore damaged cartilage and preserve joint function.
Acetabular chondral injuries involve damage to the cartilage lining the hip socket. These injuries are often associated with femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) and can lead to pain, mechanical symptoms, and progressive joint degeneration if left untreated.
🔧 Procedure Overview
The procedure begins with arthroscopic evaluation of the hip joint, where full-thickness cartilage defects are identified in the acetabulum.
The damaged cartilage is carefully debrided, and the acetabular rim is reshaped to restore a stable surface.
A marrow stimulation technique (microfracture or bone preparation) is performed to initiate a biologic healing response and release stem cells from the underlying bone.
The AutoCart™ biologic matrix is then created by combining:
Cartilage-derived material
Whole blood or platelet-rich plasma (PRP)
Bioactive components
This creates a flowable scaffold that is delivered into the cartilage defect, filling the lesion and promoting tissue regeneration.
The matrix is stabilized beneath the labrum and within the defect using surgical techniques to ensure proper positioning and adherence.
