Today 2 April is International autism awareness day. So I made the golden infinity symbol for autism in dominoes.
As I am autistic I wanted to do this. And awareness isn't the real issue as a lot of people know that autism exist. Almost everyone knows an autistic person or more even if they don't know it. It is even often the case that the autistic person don't know he/she have autism. About 1-2% of all people have autism.
Autism ACCEPTANCE is the real issue. Many persons find us weird or strange which often leads to bullying in schools or work places. And our boundaries are often not respected, as we are often sensitive to touch, sound, light or other things in a way that other can't relate to so we are often not believed. If you know somebody who seems to be different or act in a way you find strange, it's possible they have autism. In that case they already struggle, don't add more pain by bullying them.
