"Enable: The Disability Podcast" hosts Geoff "DeafGeoff" Herbert and Kurt Hower participated in the "One Step at a Time" Autism Acceptance Walk at Jamesville Beach Park with the Central New York chapter of the Autism Society on April 25, 2026. Hundreds came out in the rainy weather to support the community, raise awareness and celebrate their superpowers.

"It's nice to be around other people who share the same struggles," said a mom of a 4-year-old with Autism Spectrum Disorder. "It's just nice to be in a place where everyone is included."

Others shared the reasons why they walked, including one man dressed as Batman in support of his brother: "I love him a lot, he's a great person. I think that sometimes people see him as different, but I see him as being my brother."
