This September marks 40 years since the passing of Noel Streatfeild, the beloved English author who gave us Ballet Shoes and the entire "Shoe Books" series (thank you to You've got Mail for that name!). In this author spotlight, I'm honoring her legacy by diving into her life, her books, and why her stories still matter four decades later.

Mary Noel Streatfeild (24 December 1895 – 11 September 1986) was an English children's author who became one of the most cherished writers of the 20th century. She wrote novels for children, adults, and romantics at heart. Forty years after her death, her books remain in print, beloved by many readers who resonate with the warmth of her stories.
