Australia’s only hibernating marsupials are stirring after winter, with critically endangered mountain pygmy possums waking from months of torpor at Healesville Sanctuary.
Keepers used thermal cameras to check on the tiny animals as they emerged from their mossy nests, with fewer than 2,000 believed to remain in the wild.
