The Australian Reptile Park in Somersby, just north of Sydney, was incredible! Along with the reptiles that give the park its name like Crocodiles, Alligators, Monitors, Skinks and several types of snakes, there are cuddly mammals and so many native Australian animals. We started our day meeting Koalas and petting one on its back! They are as soft as they look. Equally soft are the kangaroos that we fed and got to pet! We saw Potoroo, Quokka, a Dingo, Echidna, Wallaby, and perhaps the strangest looking mammal on Earth, the Platypus! There were enclosures for Tasmanian Devils and Wombats but we didn't see then, There are several bird aviaries, a spider house and a reptile house.

The park started with reptiles and has been a leader in producing anti-venom for snake and spider bites and has saved thousands of lives.
