Australia is investing $600 million to combat the illicit drug trade from Central and South America through Pacific Island nations, with Narco submarines being used by cartels to transport cocaine and methamphetamine. The initiative, announced at the Pacific Islands Forum in Palau, includes increased aerial and on-water surveillance, police training and enforcement support.
