My review of the masterpiece that is Augustus by John Williams. Achieving heights even greater than with Stoner, Williams explores another complex father-daughter relationship, themes of power, duty, virtue, and loss. I didn't think it was possible for a novel consisting of letters, set during the 1st century BC could be so powerful, but here we are.
