Week 3 of August Chills brings you a segment from the saga of the cursed sword Tyrfing, with the courageous Hervǫr waking the ghost of her father to gain the sword that damned him...
I want to thank Eleanor Parker who allowed me to use her translation of this text, there are available translations of the saga, but those I found were kind of dated, so I was really happy to find Eleanor's translation in her blog. I love the figure of Hervǫr, the image of her standing before the tomb waking her dead kin with an incantation/curse. As you can imagine, Hervǫr's adventures were only starting when she took Tyrfing in her hands, but that's a story for another time...
