Follow the trail of the refugees from Nazi Europe and find out how support was coordinated from Bloomsbury, how exiles contributed to Britain’s anti-Nazi propaganda war, and how activists plotting the Nazis’ downfall were spied on by MI5 agents. This walk, created for the 2021 Bloomsbury Festival, brings to life work by the Research Centre for German & Austrian Exile Studies, and is illustrated by voices and images from the Institute’s exile archives. The tour is led by Clare George (Miller Archivist/Research Centre for German & Austrian Exile Studies at the ILCS), with contributions by Charmian Brinson (London) and Gareth Williams (London).
