A common fault on the Audi TT Mk2 is failure of the bonnet release handle. The original handle uses an injection-moulded ABS plastic release pin which becomes weak over time and frequently snaps — leaving you unable to open the bonnet when you need it most.

This can be especially frustrating during servicing, MOT inspections, or roadside breakdown situations.

It is very common for the interior door handles to crack and fail on VW Beetle models. These handles are made from a poor-quality plastic and over time with the weight of the doors this plastic becomes brittle and snaps, this is seemingly inevitable with these vehicles. Volkswagen do not sell these handles individually. Their solution to the problem is a complete replacement of the door panel assembly.
