The steps I tried to reproduce this:
1) Drag an unsupported format and open it to Audacity.
2) You'll see a message that it's unsupported, and must NOT click OK or close it!
3) Click Help. This will provide the reason why it isn't supported.
4) Close it. You can now interact with the main window! But...
5) ...after you close the help dialog, close Audacity. The result: CRASH!
Please note that I'm using Fraps to record this.

I finally got this MIDI to 4,000,000 notes! Added notes and remixes, some tweaking and of course, part of the 1,370,000 remix. The soundfont is different because Im using Windows 7. Windows 8 lags a lot more than 7.
