The next track in my Generative Ambient series!
The whole generative series is turning into a Frank Herbert's Dune inspired series. This time I wanted to evoked the feelings of House Atreides packing up their generations of history on Caladan to move to a new planet. Although never clearly covered, I can imagine there was a planet wide holiday, with parades and a lot of military pomp and circumstance around the move. Putting on a show of strength for the population and the household staff, especially knowing the move to Arrakis was a trap designed to destroy them.
Process notes:
I made the track in Ableton Live, making heavy use of instruments from Output and Arturia.
The generative element started with a core note progression that passed through a couple of home made generative devices to drive several channels. I added in a Max4Live device to generate a Euclidean polymeter which then passed through a random gate on several channels to create periodic sounds.
I am pleased with the end result, and will be developing the generative template into more sophisticated ways - I already have some ideas for the next in the series!
I created the video entirely in DaVinci Resolve, and features the new Artifonica logo that I designed (in Affinity Photo), and animated with Patrick Stirling's Proto V2. For this video I stepped into Fusion to animate the cargo cube, giving the lights a bit of life with flickering lights. I also tried to similarly animate just the atmosphere on the planet below but it just wasn't showing through so well.
