A USAF documentary from 1957 about the early development of the Atlas rocket (at the time an ICBM), upscaled and remastered to 1080p.
Justification for Atlas development is discussed in the Cold War context. Detailed early Atlas (Convair SM-65A, or Atlas A) flight test footage (including failures) is shown. The future usage of Atlas as a launch vehicle for space probes is also mentioned.
AI upscale (Topaz AI) was used to resample the film to full HD resolution. While it works in most cases, artifacts are present in some sequences. Some original music segments might be replaced to avoid any sound muting problems.

The SM-65 Atlas was the first operational intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) developed by the United States and the first member of the Atlas rocket family. It was built for the U.S. Air Force by the Convair Division of General Dynamics at an assembly plant located in Kearny Mesa, San Diego. Atlas became operational in October 1959, but was soon made obsolete as an ICBM by new development, and was retired from this role by 1965.
