WTHR | Atlanta meeting held amid probe into town official @WTHR13News | Uploaded October 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
We're following new developments out of the small Hamilton County town of Atlanta. The town council is meeting for the first time since state police launched an investigation into the utility superintendent and building commissioner.

The meeting, which lasted just ten minutes, took place in a room packed with residents looking for answers.

The council did not offer further insight into why police are investigating Andy Emmert.

As for what we do know, ISP searched Emmert's house and a few town buildings last week. They loaded two different classic cars off Emmert's property and he was placed on paid administrative leave. The council voted on that leave tonight.

We learned leaders in the nearby town of Arcadia have agreed to help with operating Atlanta's water and sewer plant in Emmert's absence. They also appointed an interim building commissioner.

The town itself is not a target of the investigation. Emmert is not under arrest at this time.
