Karateka is a cinematic martial arts game designed by Jorden Mechner. The original was done on the Apple II in 1984, with the Atari 8-bit port done by Robert Cook in 1985. Jordan Mechner later went on to design Prince of Persia.

This is a complete walkthrough longplay video of the game, which also shows a graphics glitch when the attract mode starts (graphics glitch on the ground around both fighters), possibly the result of a bad image (dump). The XEGS cart version doesn't have this.
