Today we look at Mattress Monkeys from AtariAge, and developed by Phantom Logic Studios. Phantom Logic is a homebrew studio with 3 members and a whole bed full of talent. The game was released in Fall of 2025 on the AtariAge store, and employs ChameleonCart Technology to allow for the game to work on either the 2600 or 7800.
This doesn't seem to be their first time doing Chameleon stuff, as I found an earlier release that claimed to be playable on the Colecovision, Sega SG-1000, Casio PV-2000 and a few others. But how does this game fair? What value does the Chameleoncart provide? And most of all, how good is the game itself? Lets discuss!
I grade games on a 5 point scale. Here is what each score means:
5 out of 5 is PERFECT! These are the killer apps that you should own & play.
4 out of 5 is Great! These games are worth playing and owning.
3 out of 5 is Good. While flawed, some people will still enjoy these titles.
2 out of 5 is Bad. Very flawed and should be passed up by most people.
1 out of 5 is GARBAGE! These games are broken and should be avoided!
